Ucamco NV and Schmid Technology GmbH announce a joint project in digital imaging technology for the PCB market.

Under the terms of their co-operation agreement, Ucamco will provide the front-end drive software for the Schmid DoD 800 and DoD Pro Series inkjet printers. Schmid inkjet printers offer PCB fabricators the latest innovations in inkjet technology. Smaller feature definition and tighter registration tolerances combined with Schmid’s acknowledged expertise in ink formulation and dispersal offer a perfect solution for flexible and cost effective production of inner layers, soldermasks and component legends. Ucamco developed the front-end software to input image data from any CAM system and output drive data for the parallel print-heads and positioning data for the high-precision auto-alignment system.

SmartPlate software takes the guesswork out of PCB plating

PCB front-end engineering specialists Ucamco have teamed up with electroplating simulation & optimisation experts Elsyca to develop the CAM-independent SmartPlate program which predicts plating layer thicknesses across a PCB and in the plated drill holes to an accuracy better than 85%.  Better controlled plating improves the electronic performance and long-term reliability of the PCB, as well as cutting production and environmental costs.
